Dave Eccleston of Bolton will head the U-18 Team Canada as General Manager. “Dave has an extensive hockey background and works professionally in everything he does,” Canadian Ball Hockey Association High Performance Director Gary Slavin said. “Dave has exactly what we've been looking for in this role and he will be a great addition to the Junior Team Canada Management Team.” “Heading to Worlds, there is a lot of pressure with Canada bringing home three golds in the last worlds in 2012 in Austria,” he added. “Dave has the leadership needed to help our team repeat and we look forward to working with him.” Also appointed on the player side was J.P. Lattavo of Bolton. Lattavo recently was captain of Team Ontario at Nationals and helped lead the Caledon Bulldogs and Team Ontario to their first win against an established program of Saskatchewan. He will help spearhead a repeat of the U-16 Team Canada Team heading to the same tournament in June 2014 in Bratislava. Both Caledon residents will head over to Europe for two weeks, with likely stops in Germany and Czech Republic before finally competing in Slovakia at Worlds. All three Team Canada Ball Hockey teams, U-16, U-18, U-20, will travel from all across Canada, connecting in Germany and Czech Republic for a Training Camp then finally moving onto Slovakia. Ball Hockey recently took centre stage at the Men's Team Canada Olympic Ice Hockey Orientation Camp in Calgary, where NHL players could not lace up their skates due to insurance problems. So Coach Babcock decided that ball hockey workouts was exactly what the team needed and it was thoroughly enjoyed by all. Ball Hockey is played locally through BluePrint Hockey's new Youth House League and Rep Programs at Caledon East arena during from May to July. The league is available to both boys and girls, aged five to 20, and is a fun way to enjoy the sport of ball hockey in a safe environment. BluePrint Hockey is a part of the Ontario Ball Hockey Association which is the only sanctioned league of Hockey Canada. This year's U-15, U-17, U19 Bulldogs rep program will travel to Winnipeg next summer to compete in Nationals as Team Ontario.
