Tryouts underway — Junior C Bandits’ final cuts this week

By Brian Lockhart
The Caledon Junior C Bandits lacrosse team is currently going through the final week of try-outs for the 2013 roster.
The spring session started April 9 at Mayfield Arena and goes through a series of five nights, winding up tonight (Thursday).
All 2012 Caledon Junior C players and residents born from 1992 to 1996 are eligible to try out for the squad.
Caledon midget players are also encouraged to show what they've got.
The Bandits are a member of the Ontario Junior C Lacrosse League (OJCLL), which was formed in 2008.
Previously there were three separate Junior C leagues in Ontario, run under the auspices of the Ontario Lacrosse Association.
There are currently 18 teams in the OJCLL from towns as far east as Kingston and north to Huntsville.
The Bandits are two-time winners of the Meredith Cup championship, having claimed the title in back-to-back seasons in 2008 and 2009.
In 2012, the squad finished in first place in the West Division with 22 points and a 10-4-2 record after 16 regular season games and tied for third place overall.
They didn't advance in the playoffs after losing three straight in the first round.
The Bandits will play their first exhibition game against Innisfil next Thursday (May 2) at Bolton arena with an 8 p.m. start.
The regular season will have eight home games and eight road games.
Their first game to start the 2013 regular season will be a road game in Halton Hills May 8.
They will be at home in Mayfield Arena for their home opener May 14. Game time is 8 p.m.
