A painter, glass artist and wood turner have teamed up for a new art exhibition.

On July 3, Headwaters Arts opened “Trilogy”, its newest members’ exhibition that features painter Marnie Cooke, glass artist Kathryn Thompson, and wood turner Lawrence Kristan.

Thompson said the juxtaposition of the three different mediums will be a unique yet complimentary experience.

The exhibition, which features over 90 works, is on until August 5 in the Headwaters Arts gallery at the Alton Mill Arts Centre.

Headwaters Arts’ marketing lead Sue Powell said there will be an opening reception for Trilogy on July 6 from 1 to 4 p.m. and that all three artists will be in attendance.

Powell said Thompson uses glass blowing to create ethereal bowls and vases. Thompson furthers the intrigue of her art using sandblasting to add detail and create stories in her work.

Cooke is a contemporary interpretive artist, said Powell, and uses acrylics in an impressionistic style with nature as her main inspiration.

Kristan turns wood to create organic-feeling vases and bowls, said Powell, using wood found locally such as spalted or silver maple and box alder.

The Headwaters Arts gallery is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday to Sunday at the Alton Mill Arts Centre, which is located at 1402 Queen Street West.

Powell said Headwaters Arts is proud to be presenting Trilogy and that it’s a very dynamic show.

All the pieces on display at the show are for sale.

Headwaters Arts is a non-profit organization and its goal is to bring together artists and art lovers to promote the development, appreciation and enjoyment of art in the Hills of Headwaters region.
