Trees planted at animal shelterThe Bolton and District Horticultural Society and their partners completed the first phase of the Coleraine Park Environmental Restoration Project May 13. Toronto and Region Conservation Authority (TRCA) field staff planted 34 mature native coniferous and deciduous trees in two dog leash-free sections in the 11.1-acre site of the Caledon Animal Shelter. In addition to improving the environment, these trees will provide badly needed shade for the staff and volunteers of the Animal Shelter and the public dog walkers, not to mention their dogs, because this piece of land had virtually no trees on it which made it very unpleasant on hot sunny days. Funding partners that contributed a total of $13,400 were TRCA, Town of Caledon, James Dick Construction, Kinsmen Club of Bolton and the Rotary Clubs of Bolton and Palgrave. |
