Town’s lawyers looking into salty snow issueBy Bill Rea The issue of salty snow being pushed onto private property by plows has been an issue in Caledon village for years. A local resident has demanded action, through three letters e-mailed to the Town. Caledon council recently voted to refer the matter to its legal counsel and insurance adjuster for a response. Through a series of letters, dated Feb. 15, 16 and 20, Bill Stubbs expressed concern over the impact the salt could have on his and other wells. In his letters, Stubbs said the salty snow was being deposited on his Hurontario Street property without his permission. “I believe that I am being harassed by the Town and sidewalk plow operator, and I want this harassment and bullying to stop,” he wrote in his Feb. 15 letter, addressed to Councillor Doug Beffort. “I do not want any of the Town's salty snow placed on my property or against my buildings.” Council received the letters and approved the referrals without comment. |
