Title: Town supporting new NEC policy

The Niagara Escarpment Commission (NEC) is looking at changing its policies to allow heritage homes to be moved to developed lots, and Caledon council likes the idea.
Council recently approved a motion of support for the proposal.
The motion stated the Town and the Niagara Escarpment Plan both support the idea of second residences on lots where the first home is a designated heritage building.
The proposed policy would allow heritage homes to be moved to developed lots if it can be determined there would be no negative environmental or scenic impacts, and there would be no problems created for neighbours.
Mayor Allan Thompson was directed by council to write a letter of support to NEC, and copies of the motion are to go to Dufferin-Caledon MPP Sylvia Jones and Peel Region.
