Town running its native tree seedling program

The Town of Caledon, in association with Halton-Peel Woodlands and Wildlife Stewardship, is offering its 11th annual native tree/shrub seedling program.
The program is for residents interested in planting native plant species on their properties. It's purpose is to promote and encourage private reforestation or restoration efforts by making affordable native nursery stock accessible to local residents.
Native stock available to order this year is from local tree seed zone 34 and includes coniferous seedling transplants (white pine, white spruce, white cedar, tamarack), deciduous saplings (sugar maple, silver maple, white birch, and black cherry) and deciduous shrub seedlings (hackberry, red osier dogwood). Orders will be filled on a first come first serve basis so it is important to submit your order along with the appropriate payment, as quickly as possible.
Tree orders will be available for pick-up at 6211 Old Church Rd., Caledon East (former OPP building) April 27 between 8 a.m. and noon.
Forms are available for download from the Town's website at www.caledon.ca, or may be picked up at the Customer Service Department at Town Hall, 6311 Old Church Rd., Caledon East.
For further information, contact Todd Smith at 905-584-2272, ext. 4186.
