Town praised for keeping company in Bolton

By Bill Rea
As the Town works to gain and keep industry in the area, Mayor Marolyn Morrison had some good news to report last week.
She opened last Tuesday's meeting of Caledon council by announcing that SEWS Canada would be remaining in Bolton and not relocating to Brampton.
“Staff worked with them very hard,” Morrison said, as she read aloud a communication from Joe Hamadi of Sora Group, expressing thanks for the cooperation shown by the Town.
“Sews was considering moving out of our building to Brampton,” Hamadi stated. “We worked very hard and managed to keep them at our facility in Bolton.”
He added that includes a 110,000-square-foot expansion.
“I have to admit that your staff did an excellent job,” he stated.
He also singled out Town staff members Robert Hughes, Glenn Middlebrook, Norm Lingard and Ben Roberts for praise.
“I think that it was really important to read that,” Morrison said.
Director of Development Approval and Planning Policy Mary Hall said it was a two-way deal, as the developers were among the best staff had ever worked with.
“It was a mutual situation,” she said.
