Town of Caledon hires new Director of Development planning

Caledon has hired another employee for a senior leadership role. 

In a March 28 news release, the Town of Caledon announced it had hired Sandra DeMaria as its Director of Development Planning. Her first day with the Town will be April 15. 

DeMaria has over 20 years of experience in the planning sector in both municipal and private roles. Her most recent job was Manager of Development for Richmond Hill, where she worked on projects like the creation of mid- and high-rise buildings along urban corridors. 

DeMaria is a registered professional planner and a member of the Canadian Institute of Planners.

She said she's excited to join the Town of Caledon team.

“I look forward to working with the talented employees to support thoughtful, well-designed development that improves the quality of life for residents and businesses alike,” said DeMaria.

Eric Lucic, Caledon's Commissioner of Planning and Development, said DeMaria brings a wealth of experience to the Town.

“As Caledon prepares for significant growth, Sandra's leadership and experience will be instrumental in creating a thriving, connected and well-planned community,” said Lucic.

DeMaria will be responsible for providing strategic leadership and overseeing Caledon's development planners, urban designers and zoning staff while also providing planning administrative support. 

“She will also play a key role in shaping the Town's growth by ensuring high-quality, sustainable development that aligns with Caledon's long-term vision,” reads the news release.
