Town inviting input in budget process

It's that time of year again, when the Town starts serious work on its budget for 2016.
The Town of Caledon is inviting residents to participate in the 2016 budget process. There will be a number of opportunities to attend budget meetings and engage throughout this planning period.
The first opportunity will be this coming Tuesday (Nov. 17) at 9:30 a.m. It will be a special council meeting to discuss user fees, storm water management issues regarding the operating and capital budgets.
“The 2016 budget process is underway and I invite all Caledon citizens to be involved,” Mayor Allan Thompson said. “Throughout 2015, council has engaged in creating a comprehensive workplan to guide Town activities and budgeting priorities. We have heard from citizens and determined priorities based on community, staff and council input. On behalf of council and staff, I encourage and welcome all residents to become collaborate on the 2016 budget.”

Open House
Town staff from each department will be available in an open-house style forum Dec. 1 at 7 p.m. for one-on-one discussion. Small group or individual discussions are a great way to get involved and understand details of projects that will guide Town activities. After the open house, staff will present a more formal overview of the Town's 2016 budget forecast, including constraints and opportunities. This will be followed by a formal question and answer period.
Other opportunities for input will be Dec. 15 at 9:30 a.m. for a special council meeting with departmental budget presentations; Jan. 12 at the general council meeting, which will start at 1 p.m.; and Jan. 19 at the council meeting, starting at 7 p.m.
All meetings will take place at Town Hall, 6311 Old Church Rd., Caledon East, and are open to the public.
All information on the 2016 budget will be posted to www.caledon.ca/budget
