Tour Broadway Farms with historical society Sept. 25

Broadway Farms and Market will be the site of the next event planned by the Caledon East and District Historical Society.
It will be Sept. 25, starting at 6:30 p.m. (the early start is to take advantage of daylight).
Hosted by the Society and the Livingston family, the evening will include a tour of the facility, as well as details about its history and the chance to do some shopping.
In 1952, Aubrey and Anne Livingston came to farm at Lot 20, Conc. 2 in east Chinguacousy. The original black barn had “Broadview Farm” written on it. When the Livingstons applied to The Holstein Association that name had been taken. They were then faced with getting a name that was acceptable to the Holstein Association without requiring any new letters, as there was no money for frivolous things. So they used the “B,” “R,” “O,” “A” and “D”, took the “W” from “view,” used the “V” and “I” to make an “A” and the “E” to make the “Y” for “Broadway.”
The farm is at 12506 Heart Lake Rd.
