Tie in ball hockey standings at close of June


The three-way dance for the lead continues in the Inglewood Ball Hockey League.
The last Tuesday of June saw the loop-leading George's Arena Sports being edged by the Carney Plumbing crew. That allowed Mr. Handyman to move into a tie with 20 points after tripling Caledon Hills Cycling. The team from 360º Tire Service is just one point off the pace with a win over We Are Creative.

In a night that saw both teams short on the bench, neither team was short on goals.
Carney was able to hold on to get the win over George's.
Point getters for Carney were Mike Zimmerman (with two goals and two assists), Chris Unwin (two goals), Scott Churly (a goal and an assist), Ryan Zimmerman (a goal and an assist), Shawn Lane (a goal and an assist), Brandon Sinclair (an assist) and Brian Dunn (one assist). George's go-to guys were Jody Spagnol (two goals and an assist), Zac Lyons (two goals and three assists), Ryan Frangakis (an assist), Sal Iozzo (a goal and an assist), Jordan Bokla (two assists) and Josh Gagne (a goal and an assist).
360º Tire Service 3, We Are Creative 0
Dylan Berry turned away all comers this night to give the 360º Tire guys the victory over We Are Creative.
Goal grabbers for 360 were Marco Franza from John McClure, Kyle Jones from McClure and Mike Vutcher, and McClure from Franza.
Mr. Handyman 6,
Caledon Hills Cycling 2
The last game saw the long-benched Mr. Handyman group step it up and hand Caledon Hills Cycling the loss.
Handyman bin bulgers were Kristian McMillan (unassisted), Chris Capobianco (unassisted), JT Gore from McMillan and Phil DeFrancesco, Daniel Leone from Kent Johnstone, Will Pitsadiontis (unassisted) and Leone from Robert Keszeg. The Caledon Hills crasher was Matt White with the pair, Albert Bettridge added two helpers while Travis Cassar got one.
June 21
It was a case of the stronger teams in the standings getting stronger at the expense of the others in June 21 action.
360º Tire 8, Caledon Hills 3
Tyler Bannon took charge of the Tire Service team and netted four for the win over the short-benched Cycling crew.
Other goal getters for 360 were Kelvin Young with a pair, Jones and McClure, with assists from the sticks of Young, Jones, Tyson Demings, Vutcher, Simon Nicholson and Lawrence Borden. Caledon Hills hammers were dropped by Terry Masters, Dave Philips and Bettridge with the help of Phillips, Masters, Kurt Snell, Cassar and White.
Mr. Handyman 4, Carney Plumbing 1
Nathan Irvine netted the hat-trick with Leone getting the single to lift the Mr. Handyman team over the Plumbing bunch.
Helping out in the winning cause were Leone, Irvine, Keszeg and Capobianco. Carney's go to-guy was Sandy Shand from Churly.
George's 6, We Are Creative 0
Donato Dorizio was able to block all comers and get the shutout to earn the George's gang the win over We Are Creative. Lighting the lamp for George's were Bokla (a goal and an assist), Phil Iozzo (two assists), Jake Stronach (one goal), Sal Iozzo (two goals), Zac Lyons (a goal and three assists) and Spagnol (a goal and three assists).
June 14
The previous week saw two nights of action.
Mr. Handyman 5, Caledon Hills 4
After keeping it close for the first two frames, the Cycling crew couldn't stop the Handymen from taking the victory in the third.
Net nabbing for Mr. Handyman were Capobianco from Anton Ethier, Leone from Gore and Pitsadiontis, Capobianco from Pitsadiontis and Mariah Poulin, Capobianco (unassisted), and Pitsadiontis from Leone. Caledon Hills go-to guys were Bettridge (unassisted), Cassar from Kyle Dalcin, Snell (unassisted), and Masters from Dave Phillips.
George's 6, Carney Plumbing 4
In a tight one George's took advantage of the shorter benched Carney Plumbing crew and took the win in the third.
George's goal getters were Zac Lyons and Sal Iozzo with a pair each, Jason Caruana and Spagnol, with helpers from the sticks of Matt Campanella, Caruana, Spagnol, Bokla, Darryl Miles and Lyons. Carney lamp lighters were Jesse Rooyakkers from Pete Davis, Gabriel Donovan (unassisted), Lane from Rooyakkers and Sinclair, and Terry Leonard from Donovan and Rooyakkers.
360º Tire 2, We Are Creative 1
In another tight one, 360º Tire Service were able to sneak one past We Are Creative and score the win.
Tire bin bulgers were Vutcher with both, helped by Franza and Jones. We Are's creativity came from Mark Zijlstra with Josh Rowland getting the assist.
June 16
Two nights later saw George's and the Tire guys square off, with George's edging their foes.
Mr. Handyman 2 , We Are Creative 0
John Malanca stood tall for the Handymen and earned the shutout to get the win over We Are Creative.
Irvine (unassisted) and Leone from Irvine and Gore got it done on the scoreboard for the Handyman side.
Caledon Hills 7, Carney Plumbing 3
Caledon Hills took full advantage of the short benched Carney crew and pedaled themselves to victory.
Caledon Hills twine ticklers were White, Bettridge, Ian Dunn, Masters, Phillips (with two) and Dalcin. Helpers were from Geoff Lyons, White, Snell, Dalcin, Cassar and Bettridge. Carney goal getters were Sinclair (with a pair) and Ryan Zimmerman, with assists from Brian Dunn, Davis, Leonard and Todd Elson.
George's 4, 360º Tire 3
In a game that saw multiple penalties George's were able to best the 360 team.
Goal getters for George's were Zac Lyons from Chris Bernardi and Stronach, Bokla (unassisted), Sal Iozzo from Lyons and Campanella, and Lyons (unassisted). Tire Service stickers were Frankie Carricatio from Kyle Young, Vutcher from Travis Bannon and Demings, and Rocco Manicone from Jacob Power.
June 7
The June 7 action proved to be very close, with George's being the only outfit to post a win.
Mr. Handyman 3, 360º Tire 3
Each team traded shots in the first period, going into the second tied at 0.
The second saw Nicholas Adams from Jones bag one for the Tire guys. Not to be out done, Gore from Adrian DiCarlatonio and Ryan Hartman answered back for Mr. Handyman. Leone from Irvine and Hartman netted one early in the third to give the Handyman side the lead. The Tire team answered back (while short two players) when Franza from Jones and Kyle Young found the back of the twine tent. Late in the third, Franza was given a penalty shot and put the Tire guys ahead. Mr. Handyman wasn't finished, and in the final 1:30 of the game Keszeg from Leone and McMillan tied things up, so no winner was determined.
George's 3, Caledon Hills 2
In a tight battle, George's were able to eke out a win with a strong third frame over the Caledon Hills crew.
The first saw Philips from Geoff Lyons, and Lyons from Phillips put the Cycling guys on top. The second saw no one able to best the keepers. The third saw George's get some life when Spagnol from Liam Winslow and Gus Kourousis, Spagnol from Tony DiFazio and Kourousis, and Zac Lyons from Matt Campanella and Bernardi lit the lamp and got the win.
Carney Plumbing 0, We Are Creative 0
In a back-and-forth battle, neither team could get one past the keepers this night.
Kyle Bachorski for We Are Creative and Eddy Gaffney for Carney Plumbing stood tall and turned away all.
