Tie at the top of Sunday night league


The last place team held the first place club to a 5-5 draw Jan. 10.
The result was a tie at the top of the standings in the Sunday Night Junior Men Hockey League standings.
Inside Out Family Chiropractic Predators edged the St. Louis Bar & Grill Red Wings 2-1 to claim a share of top spot with the Mr. Handyman Moose.
Warriors 6, Wild 3
In a game that was close after one, saw the We Are Creative Warriors opened it up in the second period to secure the win over the Pommies Cider Co. Wild.
Warrior weapons were Gus Kourousis from Kevin Norris, Bogdan Rapan (unassisted), Brent Spagnol from Kourousis, Dave Gardilcic from Norris, Rapan from Kourousis, and Spagnol (unassisted). Wild wrappers were Jay Beech (unassisted), Mike Swan from Beech, and Beech from Peter Coghill.
Predators 2, Wings 1
In a nail biter, the Predators were able to net a pair in the second frame and get the win over the Wings.
Predator power houses were Mike Andreoli from Mike Arnold, and Steve Hutchins from Tim Vokey. Wings' go-to guy was Victor Ranieri from Shane DeLaronde.
Penguins 3, Blades 2
In another close one, the George's Arena Sports Penguins were able to vault into fifth place by staving off the Ken's Lawn Mower Repairs Blades and net the victory.
Penguin players were Alex Schittenhelm from Ron Toffin, Cory Schittenhelm from Mike Tarasco, and Toffin (unassisted). Blades bangers were Darren Levy from Jason Clark, and Shawn Simpson from Darren Jones.
Moose 5, Fire 5
To round out the night, neither team could best the other as the Moose skated to a draw with the Ainsley Fire Protection Fire.
Moose marvels were Brendan Pace from Graham Bryson, Cam Coulter from Shane Marshall, Bryson (unassisted), Carlo Landolfi from Steve Brown, and Bryson from Landolfi and Pace. Fire flamers were Mike Weeda from Ryan Wood, Sandro Mignosa from Robert Silvestri, Mark Andreoli from Mignosa, Steve Whitten (unassisted), and Andreoli from Mignosa and Eamon Harper.
Jan. 3
The year 2015 ended with the Predators knocking the Moose out of the lead, but they couldn't stay on top for long.
Jan. 3 saw the Predators go down to defeat, while the Moose were able to retake the lead.
Fire 6, Penguins 4
The Ainsley Fire Protection Fire wasted no time in burning up the George's Arena Sports Penguins in a barn burner to start 2016, notching their fourth win of the campaign in the process.
Mark Andreoli netted a pair with Harper, James Kennedy, Michael Horsley and Whitten adding singles. Andreoli also added two helpers, as did Mignosa with Silvestri and Wood each getting one. Penguin pushers were Kevin Christie with two and Brandon Scott and Tarasco each with singles, while Alex Schittenhelm added a pair of assists and Matt Dowdle and Mike Brioux had singles.
Moose 5, Blades 3
The Moose squad stepped up and dulled the Ken's Lawn Mower Repair Blades to get back on the winning track for 2016, and back into first place.
Coulter was the Moose go-to guy with a pair, while Eric Cirone, Brad Sztorc and Marc de Abaitua added singles. Helpers were from Bryson, Landolfi and Chuck Hughes. Blades blasters were Daryll Simpson with a goal and a helper, Darren Jones with a goal and Steve Smith with the last marker.
Wings 7, Wild 1
The St. Louis Bar and Grill Red Wings squeezed the juice from Pommies Cider Co. Wild and took the game with force.
Net nabbers for the Wings were Rob Thibeault and Ranieri with two each, and Derek Cleary, Daniel Hamlett and Chris Quayle with singles. Assists were from the sticks of Cleary, Mike Blackwood, Bob McHardy and Brad Wigner. The Wild's lone marksman was Beech (unassisted).
Warriors 8, Predators 4
We Are Creative Warriors showed their creative side, handing the Predators a lopsided loss.
Steve Conforti was the big point getter for the Warriors with two goals and a helper, while Kourousis got a pair of goals, Jody Spagnol added goal and assist, as did his brother Brent. Nick Curro was good for three assists, and Gardilcic and Andrew Kirk each netted singles, with Rapan adding the last assist. Predator power players were Hutchins with a pair, and Mike Andreoli and Fab Iafano with singles. Help came from Iafano and John Hutchinson.
