The team took a 3-1 loss to FC Schalke in their eighth game of the season. The game was tied at 1-1 at the end of the first half. The team took the break after the half to discuss what they needed to do to get back into the game. “There's got to be more talking at the back,” said one player, referring to the need for communication on the field. Despite the score, the game was pretty evenly matched, with the Caledon squad having several close calls in front of the opposing goal during the second half. Drawing the goalie out and creating the open spot in the net was half the battle. The other half was placing the ball to the back of the net. That was the tough part and several times the kick went wide. The team has won four and lost four so far in the campaign. That included back-to-back wins over Iraq FC and Brampton Portuguese in June competition, and the recent pair of losses to Croatia Norval and FC Schalke. They have a long way to go, with 14 games left on the regular season schedule. Currently, the Caledon squad is right in the middle of the pack in the standings with a number six place in the 11-team division. The Guelph Rangers are currently in the lead, followed by Wisla United and Croatia Norval and the Orangeville Athletic. The team will have two home games over the next two weeks. Tonight (Thursday), they host Wisla United with a 9 p.m. start under the lights. They return to the Caledon park the following week (July 11) to face the Mississauga Portofino. The game is scheduled for 9 p.m. --------------------------------------------------- Images: https://caledoncitizen.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/27-fc-5-inch-247x300.jpg --------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------- Post date: 2013-07-05 10:06:42 Post date GMT: 2013-07-05 14:06:42 Post modified date: 2013-07-05 10:06:42 Post modified date GMT: 2013-07-05 14:06:42 ____________________________________________________________________________________________ Export of Post and Page as text file has been powered by [ Universal Post Manager ] plugin from www.gconverters.com
