Representing the Peel-Dufferin Plowmen's association, Thompson, 20, was up against 23 other competitors at the International Plowing Match, hosted this year by the United Counties of Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry. The title went to Kathryn Chant, representing Grenville County. Thompson, daughter of Mayor Allan Thompson, also won a $500 BMO scholarship. She said the competition required an interview, demonstration of plowing skills, and delivering an impromptu speech. Thompson, who's starting her third year studying agricultural science at the University of Guelph, said the experience was a benefit, helping her with her public speaking and social skills. “It was a great experience,” she said. “All the girls were fantastic. It's definitely an experience where you learn a lot.” --------------------------------------------------- Images: https://caledoncitizen.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/39-thompson-5.5-163x300.jpg --------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------- Post date: 2015-09-30 16:34:55 Post date GMT: 2015-09-30 20:34:55 Post modified date: 2015-10-09 09:29:25 Post modified date GMT: 2015-10-09 13:29:25 ____________________________________________________________________________________________ Export of Post and Page as text file has been powered by [ Universal Post Manager ] plugin from www.gconverters.com
