Subway Athletes of the Week — June 26, 2014


Mayfield Secondary School Jakob Nixon Mayfield's senior boy athlete of the year made his mark as quarterback on the football team, playing centre in rugby and defence in hockey. He's planning to study prehealth sciences at Georgian College next year. The 17-year-old lives in Brampton with his parents Grant Nixon and Sandy Graham Nixon.

Hall Catholic Secondary School Evan Kiser This 15-year-old played second base on the school's varsity baseball team, which made it to the playoffs this year. Away from school, he plays Tier 2 major bantam ball in the Bolton Braves organization and is a left winger in minor midget AA hockey with the Orangeville Flyers. The Grade 9 student lives in Mono with his parents Doug and Lisa Kiser.

This 15-year-old played second base on the school's varsity baseball team, which made it to the playoffs this year. Away from school, he plays Tier 2 major bantam ball in the Bolton Braves organization and is a left winger in minor midget AA hockey with the Orangeville Flyers. St. Michael Catholic Secondary School Yasmin Gordon This Grade 11 student was a defender on the varsity girls' soccer team which came in fourth at OFSAA recently. She was also a wide receiver in the fall on the school's flag football team. Away from school, she plays rep soccer in the Bolton Wanderers' organization. The 16-year-old lives in Bolton with her parents Shane and Jessie Gordon.

Humberview Secondary School Jesse Morgenroth-Rebin This 18-year-old is an ace pole vaulter, placing sixth at OFSAA after winning the South Regionals and ROPSSAA. His vest vault has been 4.2 metres. He's also a cross-country runner. Away from school, he's active in pole vaulting for 310 Running and practises karate at Phoenix Martial Arts. The Grade 12 student lives in Bolton with his parents Karen Morgenroth and Kal Rebin.
