Street crime unit investigation results in drug charges

Caledon OPP's community street crime unit conducted a drug investigation resulting in several charges.

As a result of this investigation, officers conducted a vehicle stop in the area of Martha Street in Bolton on Nov. 22.

Officers seized a quantity of cocaine, heroin, money and a motor vehicle.

A 29-year-old man from Caledon has been charged with cocaine trafficking, possession for the purpose of trafficking - cocaine, possession of a controlled substance – heroin, and possession of property obtained by crime.

He is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville on Dec. 24.

Police seek public assistance after home invasion robbery on Highway 10.

Caledon OPP were dispatched to a home invasion on Highway 10 near The Grange Side Road, in the town of Caledon on Thursday, Nov. 22 at 11 p.m.

Two male suspects made their way to the upper apartment of the residence where they forced their way into the residence and demanded drugs and money. A knife was brandished by one of the suspects. The victim was physically assaulted by both suspects.

The suspects fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of money and a 50” television. The victim was transported to hospital as a result of his injury and has since been released.

The two suspects are described as, male, black, about 6 feet in height, mid 20s with a bald or shaved head, slim build, light coloured jacket, dark pants, light coloured belt, black shoes, with a red bandana and the other Male is black, about 6 feet in height, grey jogging pants and a brown jacket.

Caledon OPP looking for assistance in identifying theft suspect

Caledon OPP are investigating a theft from the LCBO location on Airport Road in Caledon East.

A male suspect was observed by store staff to remove and conceal a bottle of liquor prior to exiting the store without paying for the item on Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2018 at 3:48 p.m.

The Caledon OPP Detachment is looking for assistance in identifying this male.

He is described as:

• Caucasian

• Approximately 6 feet in height

• Medium build

• Wearing a baseball cap, Toronto Blue Jays hooded-sweatshirt, and a dark jacket.

Driver charged with impaired driving following collision

Caledon OPP investigated a motor vehicle collision resulting in the arrest of the driver.   

Officers were dispatched to Highway 10 south of Olde Base Line Road for the report of a motor vehicle collision. Officers attended and found a motor vehicle which had struck a hydro pole. The driver of the vehicle was arrested at the scene and transported to hospital with minor injuries.

A 23-year-old Brampton woman, has been charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle, and is scheduled to appear in Orangeville Provincial Court.

Lock it or lose it campaign

T'was a month before the holidays with shoppers about, this also meant that, unfortunately, criminals were out! There are a number of ways to ensure that your purchases make it to the right person and do not end up stolen. The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is encouraging citizens to Lock It or Lose It. The Lock It or Lose It campaign is used to remind everyone that leaving your vehicle unlocked may increase your chances of becoming a victim of theft.

During the campaign, police officers and auxiliary members may examine parked vehicles in public places such as shopping malls and/or public parking lots. An officer will place a small notice on the vehicle that has been checked to point out if safety precautions could have been taken and to offer simple prevention tips for the driver to protect the vehicle and its contents from theft.

You can help prevent theft by always roll up your vehicle's windows, lock the doors and pocket the key, if you have a garage, use it and lock the door as well as your vehicle, always park your vehicle in a well-lit area, never leave valuable objects or packages in full view. Put them in the trunk. Never leave your vehicle unattended while it is running.

Please do your part in making this year's holiday season a safe and memorable experience. Be sure to take precautions to protect your vehicle and vehicle contents from theft. Locking it up is your safest bet.

Festive Ride Campaign as much about driver under the influence of drugs as alcohol.

Heading into the first Festive RIDE campaign since the legalization of non-medical cannabis, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is reminding drivers that they are as prepared to deal with drug-impaired drivers over the holidays as those who are alcohol-impaired.

So far this year, alcohol and or drugs were a factor in the deaths of 39 people on OPP-patrolled roads.       

From Jan. 1 to mid-Oct. 2018 the OPP laid more than 6,700 impaired driving charges across the province, 283 of which were impaired by drugs.
