Special recognition for front-line health care in our communitySubmitted by Bolton Rotary Bolton Rotary is in the final phase of a $50,000 five-year pledge to William Osler Health Foundation. This pledge was matched by Orlando Corporation to make a generous contribution $100,000 to the Etobicoke Hospital new patient tower building project. Our club has been recognized as a donor champion in making a difference in their community by the President and Board of Directors of the Foundation! Over the past 10 years, our club has donated more than $250,000 to local hospitals through our annual golf tournament. Plans are underway to host a tournament again this year on September 30. In addition to the building requirements, our donation has gone to a special emergency COVID-19 funding needed to support critical equipment. Support includes ventilators and ICU beds as well as many smaller pieces of equipment to support sick patients, and PPE to support staff who courageously provide front line health care to our community. The group also felt it was important to recognize and honor the front-line workers in our community. Beautiful planters were prepared and distributed to local EMS, Fire, Police, as well as nursing homes, in the spirit of the Rotary motto Service Above Self. Despite the pandemic, Bolton Rotary continues to meet virtually and stay involved in local activities. They have distributed over 25,000 masks, contributed $15,000 toward grocery gift cards, volunteered at the TRCA holiday Forgetful Elf drive-thru, sponsored food for 260 Caledon Seniors Centre meals, sponsored 400 egg decorating kits for local children, two oxygen concentrators for India, plus Peace Park cleanup and Hwy 50 planters. Coming up: Summer barbecues, golf tournament on September 30, Haunted Hill Run/Walk and so much more – an enthusiastic club, doing big things.
