Smile Cookie campaign raises nearly $50,000 for Caledon Meals on Wheels

By Zachary Roman

Caledon residents purchased a whole lot of cookies for a cause this year.

On June 19, Caledon Meals on Wheels (CMOW) announced it had received a $49,849 donation from local Tim Hortons restaurant owners.

The money donated is proceeds from the sales of Smile Cookies at the Bolton, Caledon Village, and Airport/Mayfield Road Tim Hortons restaurants.

Since 2015, over $225,000 has been raised for CMOW from the Smile Cookie campaign. All funds raised are used to support CMOW's nutrition, safety, social, and wellness programs for seniors and people with disabilities.

Christine Sevigny, CMOW's executive director, said she loves to see the energy and awareness the campaign creates each year.

“We are incredibly grateful to Tim Hortons and all of our Caledon restaurant owners, their staff,

and guests, for making the Smile Cookie campaign a success again this year,” said Sevigny in a media release. “The simple act of buying cookies has an incredible impact not only for Caledon but for other communities across the country. Our Tim Hortons restaurants and community see the value in what we do, and the difference that each cookie purchase makes.”
