It will run from 9 to 11 a.m. at the neighbourhood park at Learmont and Benadir Avenues. Event organizer Yevgenia Casale said she was blown away by the community's response to last year's event. “We had over 300 people come out, many of whom brought along non-perishables for the local food bank,” she said. “The generosity was overwhelming.” The volunteer firefighters from Caledon Fire and Emergency Services were on hand with Sparky the Fire Dog and their fire truck, and at the end they loaded up a car full of food donations. This year, Casale is once again asking her neighbours to show their generosity by bringing non-perishable food items for the food bank and unopened boxes of diapers for Peel Children's Services. “I'm also thrilled with the amount of help that we have this year for planning and running the event,” she added. “We have quite the number of community volunteers who are all excited and eager to make this year's event even better than last year.” In addition to the egg hunt, kids and their families will be invited to participate in a various games, such as the Family Hula Hoop Spin-off, the Giant Badminton Rally, the Bunny Toss and more. Of course, there will also be treats for the little ones and special guests, such as Sparky the Fire Dog and the SouthFields Easter Bunny. “I'd also like to thank our sponsors for stepping up and funding this event,” Casale said. “These events are so important for bringing the community together, but they cost a ton of money. It wouldn't be possible without the generous support of our wonderful community minded sponsors. As well, for the first time this year, we even reached out to the residents through crowd source funding and would like to thank the families who helped contribute to covering the costs associated with the event.” Admission to the egg hunt is free, but you'll need to bring your own basket.
