Santa Claus’ drive-by a hit for communityWritten By ALYSSA PARKHILL LOCAL JOURNALISM INITIATIVE REPORTER The Bolton Kin Club held their annual Santa Claus Parade and, athough different than previous years, it proved to be a success. Members of the community stood along the side of the road, social distancing, while getting to watch Santa Claus drive by in style – in a bright blue Ford mustang convertible. Though the parade started a little bit late, residents were thrilled to catch a glimpse of Mr. Claus himself. “Despite the fact that a few last-minute hurdles had to be jumped to make this event happen and the timelines were a bit off, Bolton Kin are so pleased to have brought some Christmas cheer to Bolton in 2020,” stated the club. “Bolton Kin are so very proud of our Town; the turnout was great, we social distanced and the positive comments have been unbelievable,” they said. The parade was organized with the help of not only Bolton Kin, but Fines Ford Lincoln, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), the Town of Caledon, including Mayor Allan Thompson, as well as the help from fellow members of the community. Children and families were excited, though a bit chilly, to catch a glimpse and a wave from Santa as he drove by. “No parade like in the past with 50 floats and 11 marching bands, but our special guest of honour made it all worthwhile,” shared John Stegeman, Bolton Kinsmen President.
