Rotary Club of Palgrave’s Weekly Rotary Minute

By Natalie Saaramaki
What Rotary Means to Me.
I joined Rotary a little more than a year ago as an associate member because being involved in a community organization is an expectation of my job. As a working mother with two very busy daughters, the demands on my time can sometimes be overwhelming. I spend many evenings and weekends away from my family due to work commitments and was apprehensive of the time commitment that was involved in becoming a full Rotary member.
After a year as an associate member, the decision was easy. There was no doubt in my mind that this was an organization that I wanted to be involved with and it had nothing to do with why I originally came to my first meeting. Instead of spending more time away from my family, Rotary has become a family affair. My husband Andrew has since joined as an associate member and our involvement includes volunteering for activities that our daughters can be involved in.
In short, Rotary has provided me with the opportunity to develop new friendships and to grow as a person. It has also allowed us to teach our kids about the importance of giving back to our community, which in the chaos of our daily lives is something that is easily forgotten.
So, thank you to the Rotary Club of Palgrave, for all that you've given me.
