Richmond Hill man facing several charges after Aug. 11 incident

A 35-year-old man from Richmond Hill faces a number of charges after a Caledon OPP officer's attention was attracted in a Aug. 11 incident.
Police report the officer was driving along Regional Road 50 in Bolton, and was forced to take evasive action to avoid a collision with a 1997 silver Volvo that was backing out of a driveway.
The officer observed the Volvo heading south, initiated a traffic stop and learned the driver was suspended from driving for unpaid fines. After the officer served the driver with his documents he stepped out of his vehicle and became irate, refusing to allow the tow truck operator to tow his vehicle. The driver returned to his vehicle and attempted to leave the scene, refusing to comply with the officer's demands.
The officer and the tow truck operator strategically placed their vehicles in order to prevent the driver from fleeing in his car.
The driver eventually complied with the demands and was arrested. A search of the accused resulted finding of a quantity of drugs, believed to be marijuana.
The man was charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, obstructing a peace officer and possession of a Schedule II substance, as well as driving while under suspension.
