Residents asked to share their vision for the future of Peel

Can you imagine the Region of Peel in 2035?
What are the issues that are important to you and your family? What would you like the Region to look like?
These are just some of the questions the Region is asking residents to answer as part of a new strategic planning process.
To better anticipate and respond to the changing needs of the Peel community, the Region is currently developing a 20-year vision as part of its new Strategic Plan. A key component of this new process is a community engagement element that asks residents to look beyond “what is” right now and imagine the “what if” of the future.
“In 1974, Peel Region was home to over 300,000 residents. Our population has grown to over 1.4 million residents today. We need to ask ourselves what the next 20 years will look like,” commented Regional Chair Frank Dale. “Our community is evolving and we need to adapt the way we work to ensure we are providing the services that our residents need. Engaging our residents in our strategic planning process will allow us to effectively plan and enhance the way we do business and continue to challenge ourselves to deliver value in new ways.”
Residents can participate in the planning process by filling out an online survey or by attending an in-person event at locations across the Region. Sessions planned for Caledon include June 18 at the Caledon Ward 5 Town Hall meeting at Rotary Place, 7 Rotarian Way, from 7 to 9 p.m.; June 22 at the Caledon Ward 1 Town Hall meeting at Inglewood Community Centre, 25 McLaughlin Rd., from 7 to 9 p.m.; June 25 at the Caledon Ward 2 Town Hall at Margaret Dunn Library at 20 Snelcrest Dr in Valleywood, from 7 to 9 p.m.; and July 8 at Inglewood Farmers' Market, 15551 McLaughlin Rd., from 3:30 to 7 p.m.
Both the survey and event details can be found online at peelregion.ca/peelin2035 and will be available through the summer.
The Strategic Plan will be presented to Regional council in draft form in the fall and will incorporate input received from the online survey and in-person engagement events. In addition, the Region is planning to engage the community with further efforts later this summer.
