Renewed Hope Caledon held its first-ever clothing donation event this past week, inviting community members not only to donate winter clothes but also to take what they needed from the available resources.

Renewed Hope, a volunteer-run nationwide charity and nonprofit, works to deliver essential services, support, and resources to communities in need.

Now, they've come to Caledon.

“People make the difference, and people that care make a huge difference,” said Tim, with Renewed Hope, at the outreach event.

They have been doing volunteer charity work for decades, and Tim says that 100% of the donations go to their mission.

They have various initiatives, including meals, shelter, necessities, counselling and recovery, lunch box rescue programs, and more.

The Caledon outreach initiative featured Renewed Hope's Relief Vehicle Van, inviting people inside to pick out what they needed.

It's not just the vans; they also have Relief Vehicle aircrafts.

They aim to have a “fleet of relief vehicles,” which will include: Relief Vans for food delivery, pastoral visits, and hygiene outreach, Relief Trucks for mobile medical clinics, mental health counselling, and shelter, and Relief Planes to reach isolated regions and deliver emergency aid where roads can't go.

“All the things that we do, it's about the people. It's about bringing them to a greater place, getting them where they want to be in order to launch,” he says. “We do this for people because there's something great in people and we can plant something even greater in them to bring them where they need to be.” 

The Caledon community delivered on the donation aspect, with community members dropping off bags filled to the brim with clothes and bins of hand-knit items.

Tim shared that when the charity came to Caledon, there was a natural synergy, and now they're able to bring their resources to those in the community who need them.

He says that once Renewed Hope recognizes a need, they're able to partner with ambassadors in the area and their team to help with whatever they need, whether it's clothing or food distribution, or any of their other various initiatives.

“What does it mean for the people in Caledon? A sense of relief that help is there,” he says.
