Region to investigate implementing fines for negligent 911 callsBy ZACHARY ROMAN Local Journalism Initiative Reporter Peel Regional Police report that over 40 per cent of the 911 calls they receive are deemed non-legitimate, inappropriate, or misuse. At Region of Peel Council's January 11 meeting, Brampton Mayor Patrick Brown put forward a motion asking Council to direct regional staff to investigate whether fines or other penalties can be issued to callers making negligent use of the 911 system.
