Police charge two with posing as doctors


Two men are facing charges after an OPP Anti-Rackets Branch and Health Fraud Investigation Unit probe, which also involved the Caledon detachment.
The investigation dealt with two men in connection with the operation of a private drug and alcohol addiction treatment centre.
Police report they received information alleging two individuals were identifying themselves and practising as doctors at the Addiction Canada Treatment Centre in Caledon. They allege neither individual is licensed to practise medicine in Ontario.
As a result, a 30-year-old Mississauga man was charged under the Regulated Health Professions Act in relation using the title of “doctor.” As well, a 46-year-old man from Richmond Hill is charged with personation and Fraud, contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.
The investigation into this matter is ongoing.
