The planting will take place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Located in Caledon Hills along the Oak Ridges Moraine, Willoughby Nature Reserve is recognized as a significant natural area in the Niagara Escarpment Plan. By planting native species, participants will be helping to protect Silver Creek and the surrounding Credit Valley Watershed. “This stewardship event will enhance the already incredible diversity of plant and animal life on the reserve,” Smera Sukumar, conservation science assistant at Ontario Nature, observed. “Participants will have the chance to explore the beautiful Caledon Hills while contributing to its ecological health.” Participants are asked to bring a bagged lunch, re-fillable water bottle, and wear long pants and closed-toe shoes. Ontario Nature will provide granola bars, water and some gardening gloves and trowels, but people are asked to bring their own if they have them. Registration details and further information is available at www.ontarionature.org/connect/blog/event/streambank-planting Meet at the gate on Kennedy Road, between Escarpment Sideroad and The Grange Sideroad. --------------------------------------------------- Images: --------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------- Post date: 2016-08-10 16:26:45 Post date GMT: 2016-08-10 20:26:45 Post modified date: 2016-08-20 12:24:22 Post modified date GMT: 2016-08-20 16:24:22 ____________________________________________________________________________________________ Export of Post and Page as text file has been powered by [ Universal Post Manager ] plugin from www.gconverters.com
