The Caledon Hawks peewee AE team played the Richmond Hill Stars Early Bird tournament the weekend of Sept. 13 to 15, and came home bearing second-place honours.
The first game, against the Kingston Canadians, ended in a 4-3 loss despite a third-period rally. If the team had just had ive more minutes, they could have done it.
The second game, later that day, was much better. A 8-6 win over the Milton Winterhawks ended the day on a positive note.
It was back to Richmond Hill the next day to face the Aurora Tigers. Caledon would get their first shut-out win of the season with a score of 6-0.
Sunday morning, the boys faced off against the Brampton 45s, securing a spot in the finals with a 6-5 win. Tyler Skubic was certainly on fire for this game, getting his first hat trick. He actually scored four times in the game.
After several hours between games, the finals ended in a disappointing loss 6-0 against the Barrie Colts.
The 2013-14 season is getting off to a good start, though. Caledon played in the Etobicoke pre-season tournament and placed fourth overall. Very special thanks to Joe from Four Corners Bakery in Bolton for supplying the team with much needed food for the tournament.
The regular season kicked off Monday.
The Caledon Hawks Peewee AE team consists of Braedan Martel, Taylor Murphy, Alec DeGiusti, Darcy McClure, Jaden Amaral, Nicholas Gullusci, Tucker Hardy, Tyler Skubic, Adam Allen, Gabriel Cascallar, Antonio Aquino, Adam Busch, Brian Eichinger, Justin Eccleston, Nicolas Baliseh, Daniel O'Donnell and Anthony Gonsalves.
