Peel Region about to go on seasonal holiday hoursRegion of Peel offices and non-emergency services will be closed for the holidays from Dec. 25 to Jan. 1. They will reopen Jan. 2 Residents are advised that during the week of Dec. 25, all recycling, garbage and organics collection will take place two days later than usual. Note that waste will be collected Saturday (Jan. 30) for residents with a regular Thursday collection day. During the week of Jan. 1, all recycling, garbage and organics collection will be one day later than the regular pick-up day. Check peelregion.ca/waste — “when does it go” — for collection dates. All Community Recycling Centres (CRCs) will be closed Dec. 25 and 26, as well as Jan. 1. All CRCs (except Bolton and Caledon) will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. Dec. 24 and Dec. 31. The CRCs will operate on regular hours from Dec. 27 to 30, and return to regular hours Jan. 2. Check peelregion.ca/waste for CRC locations and hours. Christmas Tree Disposal Real trees (free of decorations, wire, stands, etc.) will be collected if they are placed at the curb on regularly scheduled recycling collection days the weeks of Jan. 8 and Jan. 15. Trees taller than three metres (10 feet) must be cut in half to be collected at the curb or dropped at a CRC. Visit peelregion.ca/waste for more information on proper Christmas tree set-out. TransHelp TransHelp service hours for Dec. 25, 26 and Jan. 1 will be from 6 a.m. to 1 a.m. All trips for Dec. 25, 26 and 27 must be booked by 6 p.m. Dec. 24. All trips for Jan. 1 and 2 must be booked by 6 p.m. Dec. 31. The Accessible Transportation office will be closed between Dec. 25 and Jan. 1, with regular office hours resuming Jan. 2. Human Services Human Services Reception, Employment Resource Centres, Rent Supplement offices, Peel Access to Housing, Service Access, Ontario Works, and Peel Living offices will be closed Dec. 25 to Jan. 1, reopening Jan. 2. Peel Living tenants can call the 24 Hour request line at 905-790-7335 to report any maintenance issues. Peel Art Gallery, Museum and Archives (PAMA) will close early (4 p.m.) Dec. 31. PAMA will be closed Dec. 24 to 26 and Jan. 1. Visit pama.peelregion.ca for information on programs and exhibitions. Emergency homeless shelters will remain open. Contact them by phone or by using the online Find a Shelter tool. For emergencies related to food, medication or personal support, call the Region of Peel at 905-791-7800. |
