PAMA wants to see tattoos and henna

It's the last chance for people to tell the stories behind their tattoos or hennas.
Whether it was a tribute, a rite of passage or a mistake, the Peel Art Gallery, Museum and Archives (PAMA) wants to hear about them. Tattoo enthusiasts in and around the Peel community can submit a photo of their tattoo or henna and share its story at pama.peelregion.ca/tattoos
Showcase your art, share your story and contribute to a community project. Submissions could be featured in PAMA's new photography exhibition Inked: Tattoos and the Stories They Tell, exploring the individuality of tattoos and asking the question — why do we ink?
In addition to crowd sourced tattoos from the community, the exhibition will feature information on the history and culture of tattoos throughout the ages. Inked: Tattoos and the Stories They Tell runs at PAMA from Nov. 16 to March 30.
“The remarkable tattoos and stories that have been submitted so far are a testament to the diversity of the Peel community,” said Marty Brent, supervisor, museum and archive services at PAMA. “We can't wait to explore these statements of self expression in Inked. I hope anybody who hasn't had a chance to submit their tattoo yet takes the opportunity today.”
Operated by the Region of Peel, PAMA is at 9 Wellington St. E. in Brampton. Visit pama.peelregion.ca for more information.
