PAMA hosting annual Walk the Art exhibition this month

The Peel Art Gallery, Museum and Archives (PAMA) will serve as host to the annual Walk the Art exhibition until April 24.
Celebrating its 13th anniversary, this year's exhibition will focus on the theme of power as it relates to issues of social justice in the community.
The annual exhibition brings together more than 20 participating schools from the Peel District School Board to showcase in excess of 60 works of art. The objective of the exhibition is to use visual arts as an outlet to spark dialogue among Peel students and the surrounding community. In keeping with the theme of power, art will portray issues surrounding the economic, social, environmental, political and personal distribution of power.
“Around the world, art is used as an outlet to stimulate conversation and provide commentary on social issues,” said Gerrie Loveys, acting curator of the Art Gallery and education services at PAMA. “We are thrilled to welcome the Walk the Art exhibition back to PAMA to facilitate these important conversations amongst the youth in our community.”
PAMA will host an evening reception April 24 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. to officially close this year's Walk the Art exhibition. The reception will include a silent auction, providing guests the opportunity to purchase some works from the Walk the Art exhibition. Visit pama.peelregion.ca for more information.
PAMA is a place to explore and learn about Peel Region's culture and heritage, as well as use conversation, questions and stories to help make new and fascinating connections to the surrounding community. Throughout the year, PAMA offers a variety of workshops and programs for all ages, families and adults.
Operated by the Region of Peel, PAMA is at 9 Wellington St. E. in Brampton. Visit pama.peelregion.ca to learn more.
