Shannon Kingsbury (right) was accompanied by equally charismatic Gary Diggins and Tricia Brubacher as they played to a packed room last Friday at CrossCurrents Cafe, earning a standing ovation and an encore after two mesmerizing sets of original music plus covers of songs by Bruce Springsteen, Tom Waits, Colleen Peterson and others. The evening included thrilling harmonies, fascinating stories, a short poetry reading that merited its own applause, an intriguing array of mostly ancient and traditional instrumentation and a display of musicianship that audience rarely get to witness except at high-ticket events.
