Ottawa Journal by David Tilson MP — Get out and enjoy the fall fairs in Dufferin-CaledonThe fall fair season is quickly approaching and there are several fairs coming to Dufferin-Caledon in the next few weeks. Fall Fairs are terrific community events which offer something for everyone. We are fortunate to have five fall fairs taking place from the northern part down to the southern part of the riding between late August and well into September, which gives us several opportunities to celebrate and enjoy best of our communities. The first fall fair taking place in Dufferin-Caledon will be the 160th Orangeville Fair. This fair, organized and operated by the Orangeville Agricultural Society, will be taking place from Aug. 29 to 31 at the Orangeville Fairgrounds, at 247090 5-Sideroad, in Mono. There's a great deal taking place at the Orangeville Fair, including a 4-H Dairy Show, goat show, evening entertainment, kiddie tractor pull, truck and tractor pull, pet show, farmers market, demolition derby, homecraft displays, midway, pony rides and much more. This fair, hosted and operated by the Region of Peel Agricultural Society, opens Sept. 11 and concludes Sept. 14 at the Brampton Fair Grounds, at 12942 Heart Lake Rd., Caledon. There's a full schedule of events at the fair, which include a midway, outdoor movie, Holstein cattle show, garden tractor pull, sheep show, horse barrel racing, antique and classic car show, full-size straight stock demolition derby, as well as homecraft displays and competitions, and much more. For more information and details, please visit www.bramptonfair.com/index.html The 147th Shelburne Fall Fair also takes place from Sept. 12 to 14. The fair, hosted by the Shelburne District Agricultural Society, will take place at the fairgrounds. There will be many things to do and see at the fair, including an Ambassador competition, pumpkin and cake auctions, baby show, dog show, 4-H shows, demolition derby, classic car show, lawn tractor racing, kids' pedal tractor pulls, midway, a variety of vendors and much more. The 142nd Grand Valley Fall Fair, hosted by the Grand Valley Agricultural Society, is sure to have something for every age. Located on Main Street, the fair offers a full schedule of events and activities ranging from a pet show, homecrafts, Ambassador of the Fair competition, parade, heavy horse show, dairy show, goat show, sheep show, demo cross, lawn tractor races, midway, fall fair dance and much more. This fair also has a jam-packed schedule of exciting events and activities, including a midway, demolition derby, 4-H dairy show, bike safety rodeo, teddy bear parade, poultry show, Caledon Cruisers Car Show, children's games, garden tractor pull, the Great Chili Challenge, arm wrestling competition, spaghetti eating contest, baby show, and much more.
