Osler Foundation’s Holi Gala raises $277,000William Osler Health System Foundation celebrated its third annual Holi Gala – Festival of Colours at the Embassy Grand Convention Centre in Brampton recently. The annual gala — touted by some as the year's biggest party — was headlined by singer and actor Harbhajan Mann, who dazzled the crowd of 800 with some of his biggest hits. “We are incredibly proud of our community's support of our hospital and very grateful to Loblaw for presenting this year's sold out Holi Gala,” said Foundation President and CEO Ken Mayhew. “Each year, the bar is raised higher and higher thanks to the tremendous generosity of so many caring people in our community.” The event raised more than $277,000, a total that was matched by Orlando Corporation's $15 Million Matching Challenge, resulting in a $554,000 contribution to Osler's redevelopment initiatives at Brampton Civic Hospital, Etobicoke General Hospital, and the new Peel Memorial Centre for Integrated Health and Wellness. “Holi Gala is a great opportunity to make a positive and meaningful contribution to the health of this community and Loblaw is pleased to support it,” said Pavi Binning, president and CEO of George Weston Ltd. Guests celebrated in colourful style, enjoying gourmet foods, as well as an array of entertainment and fun in celebration of the renewal of springtime. The top raffle prize was a one-year lease of a 2016 Mercedes Benz CLA 250coupe, courtesy of Mercedes Benz Brampton. The silent auction included beautiful South Asian outfits and jewellery, exclusive, hand-painted art pieces and contemporary art. “The celebration of spring through Holi Gala is a perfect opportunity to recognize the significant renewal happening at Osler's three sites,” said Dr. Gurjit Bajwa, co-chair of the Holi Gala, along with Dr. Vandana Ahluwalia. “We couldn't be more proud to be part of this amazing organization, raising funds to ensure we have the space and equipment we need to provide the best health care.” Osler's Holi Gala – The Festival of Colours was presented by Loblaw Companies Limited (lead sponsor), TD Bank, Cable Control, CIBC, Pharmasave, RBC, Scotiabank and In & Out Car Wash and Detailing Centre. Rogers Television lent support to the event's media needs. The event was also supported by a number of generous sponsors, including table sponsors, tickets purchasers, cash donors, gift-in-kind donors, silent auction donors and bidders.
