Next phase of Equestrian Park work launched

Next phase of Equestrian Park work launchedA contractor team has been selected for the next phase of construction at the Caledon Equestrian Park in preparation for the 2015 Pan American/Parapan American Games.
The Town, in cooperation with the Games' organizing committee, Toronto and Region Conservation Authority and Equestrian Management Group, have announced Caledon's own Sierra Excavation will be handling the next phase. It will see the construction of the pavilion building, judges' tower and septic system. Construction started Jan. 27 with the demolition of the former pavilion. The new buildings are scheduled to be in use for the 2014 horse show season.
“This is obviously a hugely important project for the Town of Caledon, and to be able to award it to a local team of such outstanding quality is a tremendous benefit for Caledon,” said Mayor Marolyn Morrison. “I'm so proud that we have local people working to build this legacy project.”
“We've been looking forward to getting going on this next major milestone,” said Craig Collins, CEO of Equestrian Management Group. “The construction of the new grandstand will serve as a distinguishing landmark for this community and for equestrian sport.”
“When putting together my team, I wanted to ensure that we had a team that understood the agricultural style and nature of this project,” said Sierra Excavation President Dominic Scrivo. “And I'm also proud of the fact that local trades are front and center.”
Sierra is joined by LD Cairns Design/Build Inc. which is a family run business in the Alliston/Cookstown area. LD Cairns specializes in the construction of agricultural and equine related buildings. The team is backed by local representation from Complete Mechanical (Caledon), Bolton Electric (Caledon) and concrete provided by James Dick (Caledon).
