New programs this fall at PAMA for childrenKeep the kids entertained this fall with a fun-filled lineup of arts and culture programs and activities, including a child-friendly focus on the creative designs and patterns of tattoo art, at the Peel Art Gallery, Museum and Archives (PAMA). Registered Children's Programs PA Days at PAMA are for children aged six to 12. The next program will be Autumn Break Out, and will run Nov. 8 from 9 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Autumn is an exciting, vibrant time for Canada's Aboriginal people, with a full roster of traditional and modern events, activities and arts. Children will have the chance to participate in a variety of projects, including creating cornhusk dolls, writing poetry in the style of modern Aboriginal poets and learning Aboriginal legends such as why the leaves have many colours. The fee will be $35 per child (non-members) and $31 per child (members). PAMA Ink Break Out will be Dec. 20 from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. In conjunction with PAMA's art gallery exhibition, Aba Bayefsky: The Tattoo Series, and PAMA's museum exhibition, Inked: Tattoos and the Stories They Tell, children will have the chance to learn about traditional and modern styles of tattoos, design their own tattoo and create a non-permanent work of skin-art. The fee will be $35 per child (non-members) and $31 per child (members). Winter Break Camp at PAMA Japanese Art will be the program Dec. 27 from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Children will explore the Aba Bayefsky: The Tattoo Series exhibition and participate in activities geared for specific age groups. Then in the afternoon, children can create their own works inspired by the Japanese art showcased in the exhibition. The fee will be $35 per child (non-members) and $31.50 per child (members). Gray Wash will take place Dec. 30 from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Children will delve into the world of black and white (or sometimes known as gray wash) in both tattoo and visual art, as inspired by PAMA exhibitions, Aba Bayefsky: The Tattoo Series and Inked: Tattoos and the Stories They Tell. From pen and ink line drawings to shading, children will experiment with age appropriate activities and projects reflecting gray wash. The fee will be $35 per child (non-members) and $31.50 per child (members). In Living Colour will be the program Dec. 31 from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. This day camp is a full-spectrum event. From creating tones to learning about colour theory, children will have the chance to learn about all aspects of one of the four elements of art: colour. The fee will be $35 per child (non-members) and $31.50 per child (members). Drop-in family activities take place Saturdays and Sundays, from 1 to 5 p.m., and are free with admission. Keep the entire family entertained all weekend long with activities for all ages inspired by PAMA's exhibitions. PAMA is a place to explore and learn about Peel Region's culture and heritage, as well as use conversation, questions and stories to help make new and fascinating connections to the surrounding community.
