New grants for landowners to take environmental actionBeing a good steward of rural property just became a little easier. Credit Valley Conservation (CVC) is offering new grants for rural property owners to carry out environmental projects, such as upgrading wells, restoring streams, planting trees, controlling invasive plants and more. The Landowner Action Fund is available to rural landowners within the Credit River watershed. Grants range from 50 to 100 per cent, with grant caps, and are subject to eligibility requirements. To be eligible, landowners must complete a Landowner Action Plan. Creating an action plan is simple. Attend a one-day Caring for Your Land and Water or Caring for Your Horse and Farm workshop. Staff will guide through an assessment of the property to help determine what kind of environmental improvements are best. There are three workshops planned for Caledon and area: Oct. 18 from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Inglewood Branch of Caledon Public Library (registration deadline is Oct. 9); Nov. 1 from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Watershed Learning Centre at Terra Cotta Conservation Area (registration deadline is Oct. 24); and Nov. 22 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Caledon Community Complex in Caledon East. Project funds are limited for 2014. Register today for a workshop to be the first to take advantage of this exciting new initiative. You will receive custom aerial photos and maps of your property. Lunch will be provided. Register at www.creditvalleyca.ca/events For more information, call 1-800-668-5557 ext. 440 or email Karen Buckle at kbuckle@creditvalleyca.ca |
