Movies in the Park returns to Caledon August 15

By Kathryn Fraser

Local Journalism Initiative Reporter

Caledon's annual Movies in the Park series is back with free movies running from August 15 to September 19.

There are three separate locations for the event, the first being Llyod Wilson Centennial Arena on August 15 and again September 12, as well as Caledon Family Village on August 22 and Dennison Park on September 19.

All events are weather permitting and it is suggested that those looking to attend should bring the following:

Lawn chairs;

Blankets for sitting on the ground;

Warm clothes for cooler evening air.

Each movie night will have a different selection and will not be repeating any of the selected shows.

Below are the choices for each day:

Hoppers (August 15)

F1 The Movie (August 22)

The Breadwinner (September 12)

Zootopia 2 (September 19)

The goal of this event is to create an experience where everyone from young children to older adults can come together feel included and enjoy a movie.

Commissioner of Community Services Judith D'Souza Soares explained that the movies selected were planned to appeal to all ages that everyone can enjoy.

“Movies in the Park has become a cherished summer tradition because it provides families, friends, and neighbours with an opportunity to connect, build community spirit, and enjoy a fun evening outdoors together. The event is free, accessible, and offers quality entertainment in a welcoming community setting,” says D'Souza Soares. “It also encourages residents to explore local parks and community spaces while enjoying a unique outdoor experience that many families have made part of their annual summer plans. Residents can bring a lawn chair or blanket, spend time with loved ones, connect with the community and create lasting summer memories.”

D'Souza Soares says the Town is hopeful the events will bring the community together to have fun.

“Movies in the Park is about bringing people together and creating opportunities for residents to connect with their community in a fun and welcoming environment. As a free event, it removes barriers to participation and provides accessible entertainment for all residents,” says D'Souza Soares. “Some of the goals we aim for are encouraging community engagement and social connection, providing free socializing opportunities, creating memorable experiences for families and friends, promoting healthy, active use of local parks and public spaces, supporting community well-being and belonging.”
