Caledon OPP have formally identified the two victims who perished in a Canada Day housefire.

The deceased are 35-year-old Caledon mother Jenny Bullock and her six-year-old daughter Ellie Wratten.

“On July 1, 2022, at approximately 6:40 a.m., Caledon OPP, along with Caledon Fire, attended a house fire on Mountainview Road near Highway 9, in the Town of Caledon,” said the Caledon OPP in a statement on Tuesday. “When emergency crews arrived, the residence was found to be fully engulfed in flames. Nearby residents were evacuated with two people unaccounted for.”

The fire was not considered suspicious.

In a further statement, Fire Chief David Forfar of Caledon Fire & Emergency Services urged residents to stay fire safe.

“Caledon Fire urges all residents to test their smoke alarms and make an escape plan with two ways out,” he said. “We encourage the public to contact us for any assistance needed regarding fire safety.”
