Messiah performance coming to Orangeville church Nov. 30

The Orangeville-based Headwaters' Concert Choir will be presenting Handel's famed oratorio Messiah in St. Mark's Anglican Church, Orangeville, Nov 30 at 4 p.m.
For the occasion, the 40-voice choir will be accompanied by the Great Lakes' Symphony, with both being conducted by the choir's founder and director Rob Hennig.
The choristers have toured Europe three times in recent years, having performed in Vienna and Salzburg in Austria, Prague, Paris and Rome. The Rome tour included musical accompaniment of an afternoon Mass at St. Peter's Basilica, and in Paris the choir performed in Notre Dame Cathedral.
Next February the choir will sing at Carnegie Hall and present music at St. John the Divine Cathedral in New York City.
The Messiah performance will feature soloists Shelagh Tyreman, Nancy Claridge, Charles DiRaimondo and Jeffrey Carl.
St. Mark's, which dates from 1868 and was recently made fully wheelchair-accessible, is an architectural jewel of Dufferin County well known for its superb acoustics.
The choir and orchestra last performed Messiah two years ago before a packed church.
Tickets are $23 for adults, $20 for students and seniors and those 16 years and under are free. They are available from the Orangeville Citizen office, 10 First St.; St. Mark's Church office, 5 First Ave., and BookLore, or from members of the choir.
