Men’s league still tied, but Oilers are creeping up on the leaders


Marty Madensky and Jim Moyer of Jiffy Lube Oilers combined to stun Bolton Chiropractic Centre with a last-second goal last Monday at Don Sheardown Memorial Arena.
With 2.4 seconds left in the Caledon Senior Hockey League game and the score tied, Moyer won a faceoff in the Bolton Chiropractic zone and got the puck back to Madensky who fired the winning goal with one second to spare in a 6-5 win.
In the other games, Fines Ford Lincoln downed Rutherford Global Logistics 8-4 and Yale Industrial Trucks edged George's Arena Sports 4-3 to keep the CSHL standings tighter than they have been in many a year.
Dec. 15
Jiffy Lube 6,
Bolton Chiropractic 5
Moyer, Tony Dinis and Dom Orazio all finished the game with a goal and an assist for Jiffy Lube.
Mike McNamara scored the other goal for the winners. Bill Jenner had two assists with singles going to Bill Doherty and Joe Palumbo.
Paul Speck led the Chiropractors with two goals and an assist while Rick Agar, Mike Shore and Jeff Boyles each contributed a goal and an assist. Bruno Fracassi notched two assists while David Shoalts, Gary Stewart, Howard Wight and Mark Perrin had one each.
Yale 4,
George's 3
Team rep Jim Dunbar had the hot hand for Yale with three goals while Steve Tarasco had three assists.
Tony Calabro chipped in a goal and an assist with ageless John Castellucci grabbing two assists. Single assists went to Joe Guaragna and Nick Taccogna.
Ron Sampson, Greg MacIssac and Rick Geiger handled the scoring for George's. Bill Moyer, Clark Judge, Maurizo Giorgio, Dave Smith and Jim Rogers all had one assist.
Fines Ford 8,
Rutherford 4
Jack Gibson was the top point-man for all of Monday's games with four goals and an assist for the car jockeys. Bill Davis was right behind him with four assists while Ian Kerr had a goal and two assists. Chris Spilar, John Pallotta and Frank McKay were all good for a goal and an assist. Rod Sinclair had two assists with singles going to Danny Avram, Mike Gasparini and John Pitsadiotis.
Bob McHardy led Rutherford with two goals while James Heenan had a goal and an assist. Gary Hoxey had the other goal. Peter Coghill led the assists parade with two while Bernie Tisdale, Dom Spignasi and Dave Boyd had one each.
The previous week saw George's poked the bear, but still managed to hang on for a 6-5 win over Rutherford.
The loss cost Rutherford sole possession of first place in the standings.
Bolton Chiropractic moved into a tie for first with Rutherford thanks to a 3-2 win over Fines Ford . In the other game, Jiffy Lube downed Yale 7-4.

Rutherford 5
The bear George's poked was Rutherford centre Heenan, who took a shot on the mouth in the third period when George's held a 6-1 lead.
Heenan, who already had one goal in the game, responded with three more but George's was able to keep its grip on the win. Also scoring for Rutherford was McHardy, while Jim Horan had two assists. Boyd, Tisdale and Ted Callighen each got an assist.
Sampson and Dave Livingston led the George's attack with Sampson notching a goal and two assists while Livingston set up three goals. Bret Smith and Rogers both had a goal and an assist. Dan Dillon, Greg Farrow and MacIssac scored the other goals. Single assists went to Scott Sinclair and Giorgio.
Bolton Chiropractic 3,
Fines Ford 2
Dave Armstrong scored with seven minutes left in the game to put the Chiropractors ahead for good.
John Crossley and Agar also scored with assists going to Fracassi, Boyles and Speck.
Pitsadiotis and Pallotta scored for Fines. Kerr, Rod Sinclair and Gibson had one assist each.
Jiffy Lube 7,
Yale 4
Jim Moyer and McNamara had the hot hands for Jiffy Lube with two goals and two assists each.
Palumbo put down his poker hand long enough to get a goal and two assists. Madensky and Jim Schaefer scored the other goals. Single assists came from Rich Petrie, Doherty, Orazio, Steve Sanderson and Luch Pinarello.
Team sponsor Al McFadyen scored twice for the Yalies. Team rep Dunbar added a goal and an assist to make it a good night for management. Tarasco scored the other goal with Guaragna notching two assists and Calabro one.
The week before saw Rutherford and the Chiropractors pull away a bit from the rest of the field.
Dec. 1
Bolton Chiropractic 6,
George's 4
Speck seized the moment, and the entire game for that matter, to lead the Chiropractors to a 6-4 comeback win over George's Arena Sports.
After the Chiropractors spotted George's a 2-0 lead, Speck took charge and had a hand in all of his team's goals. He scored twice, including the winner, and added four assists. Crossley had two goals and an assist while playing beside Speck and the other member of that line, Shoalts, finished with a goal and an assist. Fracassi added a shorthanded goal while Boyles had two assists. Larry Pevato and Armstrong each had an assist.
Bill Moyer led George's with a goal and two assists while Sampson had one of each. Geiger and Giorgio scored the other goals. Single assists went to Dave Smith, Rogers, Livingstone, Bret Smith and Gary Faultless.
Rutherford 6, Yale 1
Coghill notched a hat trick for Rutherford while Heenan had four assists. Murray Hurst, Tisdale and Boyd scored the other goals for the league-leaders. Hoxey and Horan both struck for two assists while singles went to Callighen, Romas Krilavicius and Bill Frolick.
Taccogna scored for Yale with the assists going to Guaragna and Scott Woodcock.
Fines Ford 2, Jiffy Lube 2
Spilar and Gibson scored for Fines. The assists were handled by Rod Sinclair, Pallotta, Kerr and Pitsadiotis.
Jim Moyer and Orazio scored for Jiffy Lube. Dinis, Palumbo, McNamara and Doherty had the assists.
The previous Monday had a couple of tremendous individual performances highlight a game that saw George's break a four-game losing streak with a 7-5 win Jiffy Lube.
Nov. 24
George's 7, Jiffy Lube 5
Bret Smith led the scoring parade for George's with two goals while Dave Smith, Giorgio and MacIssac all had a goal and an assist.
Joe Lamkin scored the other goal. Rogers chipped in two assists and Geiger had one.
Team sponsor Brian Fetterly helped set up three of McNamara's goals while Doherty had a hand in two of them. Single assists went to Sanderson, Pinarello and Jim Moyer.
Bolton Chiropractic 4,
Rutherford 4
Agar sparked the Chiropractors with two goals and an assist while Boyles had one of each.
Fracassi scored the other BCC goal. Shoalts, Perrin, Armstrong and Wight each contributed an assist.
Coghill had a goal and assist for Rutherford while Horan, Tisdale and Heenan scored the other goals. Bob Smith struck for two assists with singles going to Boyd, Spignasi, Frolick and Hoxey.
Fines Ford 3, Yale 2
Team rep Kerr scored with just under six minutes left in the third period to give Fines Ford its third win in a row. Gibson had a goal and an assist while McKay also scored. Sinclair notched two assists with Pallotta, Spilar and Avram getting one each.
Calabro had a goal and an assist for Yale with Garth Young providing the other goal. Single assists came from Dan Tasson and Castellucci.
