Mayor says Ford seemed fine at galaBy Bill Rea Toronto Mayor Rob Ford has been the topic of controversy this week over an incident last month, but Caledon Mayor Marolyn Morrison didn't see a problem. Both mayors were attending a gala event celebrating the Canadian Armed Forces. The Toronto Star reported Tuesday that Ford was asked to leave the event “because organizers were concerned he was impaired.” Although Morrison said she saw Ford at the event, held at the Liberty Grand near the waterfront of Toronto, she said she didn't notice anything unusual. “I did not see any display of drunkeness,” she declared. Morrison did say she was not seated at the same table as Ford, but observed that if it had been obvious that Ford was intoxicated or impaired, people at the event would have noticed. “I never heard a word about it until it hit the paper,” she commented, adding she didn't see any problems that would have justified Ford being thrown out. “Everybody would be talking about it.” |
