Mayor Marolyn Morrison — Don’t forget the less fortunate during this festive time of yearChristmas has always been about family for John and me. It is a time to be thankful for the blessings we have, our families and all the wonderful friends we love. For most of us, the holiday season is filled with gift giving, turkey dinners and fellowship. But for some in our Town, the season may not be so joyous. We are fortunate to live in Caledon. It is filled with wonderful, generous people, and through the hard work of our many service clubs and community associations, we have the opportunity to share our bounty. Each year, these charitable organizations make the holidays just a little bit brighter for those who may be less fortunate. I encourage you to support the charity of your choice in helping them bring the joy of the season to every home in our community. Caledon Community Services (CCS) continues to provide the necessities for local families in need. The Santa Fund works to provide home heating, education support, prescription medication support, gifts to make a happy Christmas for a child and more. To learn how you can help those in our community through CCS and the Santa Fund, please visit www.ccs4u.org or call 905-584-2300. All of us hope our friends and neighbours have a safe and happy holiday and we enjoy the opportunity to celebrate with them, particularly as the New Year approaches. These celebrations bring with them a duty to drink responsibly and never drive if you've been enjoying yourself just a little too much. This year, John and I will once again volunteer with Home James, along with many dedicated volunteers who work all year to organize and provide this fantastic service during the holiday season. If you do need a ride home during this holiday's celebrations, contact Home James at 905-951-9000; Home James is a service available to all Caledon residents on Friday and Saturday nights up to and including New Year's Eve, Dec. 31. I want to thank you for your continued support and the confidence you have shown in me and the rest of council over what has been a challenging and controversial year. As I meet so many of you in my travels across our great community, I appreciate what a wonderful and generous community ours is — you have all contributed in your own way, to making Caledon a wonderful place to work, live and raise our families . From our family to yours, we wish you the happiest of holidays, good health, and prosperity in the New Year. |
