Many spring happenings going on at Caledon Seniors’ Centre

By Margaret and Bill Cunning
“March winds will blow” and after the hard icy and snowy winter we have all experienced, we hope they blow a warm breath over the land to melt our winter white world.
There was beauty in the icy-covered trees and the snow-covered landscape, but also hardship for those without heat and light struggling to keep warm. We will all appreciate spring's arrival this year.
We start off March 4 with a nice pancake lunch for Shrove Tuesday at 11 a.m. The cost will be $7. The Centre will then be closed for spring break from March 10 to March 16, and will reopen March 17.
Don't forget to wear a touch of green March 17 as we celebrate St. Patrick's Day.
The Centre will host bridge and euchre tournaments March 22. They will start at 10 a.m. and continue until play finishes. Lunch will be served and the cost is $10. Players must register at the Centre in person or by phone at 905-951-6114.
We have a trip to Casino Rama planned for March 27. The coach leaves the Centre at 9 a.m. and returns at approximately 5 p.m. The cost is $8 with buffet lunch.
Moving into April, we start off April 2, with a wonderful trip to the new Ripley's Aquarium. Lunch will be in the 360 degrees CN Tower restaurant. The luxury coach leaves the Centre at 9:35 a.m. and returns at approximately 5:30 p.m. The price is $120, and that includes entrance to the Tower.
Our prime event of the spring is the Spring Fling fundraising dinner and dance, to be held April 4. This is an annual event and is well attended, so get your tickets early and come join the fun. It starts at 7:30 p.m. and the cost is $25.
We have another of our popular cribbage and bridge tournaments planned for April 12. They start at 10 a.m. and continue until play finishes. Lunch will be served and the cost is $10. All players must register at the Centre or phone 905-951-6114.
Our annual general meeting will be held April 28. Lunch will be free if you attend the meeting. Lunch will be at noon with the meeting following at 1 p.m. We welcome all members to attend and elect the new Board for the year ahead.
For more information on any of our programs or trips, please check our website at www.caledonseniors.ca or contact us at 905-951-6114 or by email at caledonsenior@rogers.com
April 18, we celebrate Good Friday and the start of the Easter Celebrations. We wish you all a Happy Easter.
The Centre has been a warm and welcoming place throughout this long winter; a place of warmth and fellowship. The invitation to lunch Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays is warmly extended at your “home away from home.”
