Man charged with impaired driving a tractor trailer

The erratic movements of a tractor trailer on Highway 10 May 4 attracted the attention of at least one concerned citizen, and eventually Caledon OPP.
The result was a 38-year-old man from Brampton was charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and driving with more than the legal limit of alcohol in his system.
Police report they were informed shortly before 11:30 p.m. of a rig that was moving between multiple lanes for no apparent reason, sometimes crossing onto the gravel shoulder. As well, they were told that some motorists had to take evasive action to avoid an accident.
The truck was eventually stopped north of Olde Base Line Road. Officers immediately detected the smell of alcohol on the driver's breath, so he was arrested.
The driver's licence was suspended on the spot, and his truck was impounded for seven days.
Motorists are urged to call 9-1-1 to report if they suspect someone is driving impaired, or about to drive while in such a state.
