Make a plan for your property with help from CVCProtect the natural beauty of the countryside with guidance from Credit Valley Conservation (CVC). Landowners are invited to the Caring for your Land and Water workshop June 18 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Terra Cotta Conservation Area (Watershed Learning Centre), at 14452 Winston Churchill Blvd. “Many landowners want to help protect and restore the environment, but they don't know where to start,” said CVC's Deputy CAO and Director of Watershed Transformation Mike Puddister. “CVC staff will help participants create action plans for their properties to improve environmental health.” Following the workshop, participants can schedule a free site visit to discuss environmental projects and funding eligibility through CVC's Landowner Action Fund. “Learning more about your rural property helps landowners achieve their goals such as attracting wildlife, protecting drinking water wells from contamination, improving pond health, planting a forest and controlling the spread of invasive species,” CVC's Stewardship Coordinator Alison Qua-Enoo observed. Landowner Tom Steller attended a Caring for your Land and Water workshop during the winter. He will be completing an invasive species removal project to get rid of buckthorn on his property later this summer. “Anyone interested in enhancing their property should look into what CVC has to offer,” he recommended. “The workshop in particular was very informative. It touched on so many topics. It's relevant to any property owner who cares about the environment and what they can do to protect it.” Register by noon June 13 at www.creditvalleyca.ca/events For more information, call 1-800-668-5557, ext. 436. Interested landowners should own one acre or more of rural property in the Credit River watershed. Workshops are free thanks to funding from CVC's regional and municipal partners. |
