Lots of fun had at annual Cheltenham Day


The weather was perfect recently for the annual Cheltenham Day festivities. The Soapbox Derby always attracts a lot of attention at Cheltenham Day. Joey Jacombe, 9, narrowly beat Jack McMullin for the junior championship. Third place was taken by Brooklynn Corbett. The senior title was won by Alyson McElhone, followed by Scott McElhone and Darcy McClure.

There were games for the younger folks to try. Miah Kortekaas of Cheltenham watched as Quinn Travers, 4, of Belfountain tried her luck at fishpond.

The Duck Race along the Credit River drew lots of attention. Ken May was dropping the ducks off the bridge.

There was lots of food available, courtesy of the local firefighters. Firefighter Don Hillson was pitching in at the barbecue.

In keeping with the equestrian mood going on during the Pan Am Games, Cheltenham Day included a horse there for the decorating. Henry Judge, 6, of Cheltenham was making his contribution.
