There was plenty of activity at Alton Mill Arts Centre recently for the seventh annual Fire & Ice festival. Blacksmith Ray Schindler was being creative in the forge.

No two snowflakes are alike, and artist C.J. Shelton was inviting young folks into her studio to draw some of their own. Ayden Morrison-Wales, 8, of Orangeville was among those who did.

Artist Paul Morin was watching as Nevaeh Klausen, 3, of Rosemont was using his wheel top create a work of art.

One of the high points of the Fire & Ice festival is the igniting of the fire sculpture. This one was created by Brian Oates of Erin, and it was inspired by how ancient mythology continues to influence collecting conscience and imagination. He said the work was entitled Emergence.
