The event took place on Saturday (May 5), and saw several member of Caledon council attend, along with the local band Highway 50 provide music. There were also activities for the school's kids such as creating their own bird feeders, crafts, and face painting. “It looks a whole lot different now,” said one of the school's teachers, Shana Farquhar, when describing how the garden provides a better aesthetic to the school's entrance. Families from the school came to plant perennials and pollinating wildflower seeds. Ms. Farquhar said that being an eco-school, they are given a bronze, silver, or gold ranking, thus leading to the creation of the garden. “We have been a gold eco-school for six years now.” She added that, “Every year we have to have something brand new, a new project to tackle.” Ms. Farquhar said the plants require little water and maintenance, and help attract pollinators, “so that it's beneficial to the environment.” She added that the students were extremely excited about this, and have been very involved. “Our eco-team, here at the school, the kids, they're outstanding. There's stuff going on all the time for eco.” --------------------------------------------------- Images: --------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------- Post date: 2018-05-24 13:49:45 Post date GMT: 2018-05-24 17:49:45 Post modified date: 2018-05-24 13:49:45 Post modified date GMT: 2018-05-24 17:49:45 ____________________________________________________________________________________________ Export of Post and Page as text file has been powered by [ Universal Post Manager ] plugin from www.gconverters.com
